Her Honour Judge Jan Doogue is the current Chief District Court Judge.
J
udge Doogue, of Auckland, was until recently the Northern Region Executive Judge, and also an Alternate Environment Court Judge. She was appointed as a Family Court Judge in 1994 and was warranted as a jury trial Judge in 2007. For a period in 2010, Judge Doogue was the Acting Chief District Court Judge.
Judge Doogue took up her appointment on 1 September 2011.
Her appointment follows that of the late Chief Judge Russell Johnson. Chief Judge Johnson still held his office when he passed away after a brief illness in July.
