About the Authority
The Accident Compensation Appeal Authority hears appeals under the repealed Accident Compensation Act 1982.
The Accident Compensation Appeal Authority hears appeals against ACC review decisions under the repealed Accident Compensation Act 1982.
The Authority consists of one or more members, each of whom is a barrister or solicitor of the High Court with at least seven years' experience.
Each member of the Authority is appointed by the Governor-General, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, and holds office for a term of three years. Members may be reappointed by the Governor-General.
Members can preside over a hearing on their own and may exercise any power given to the Authority under the Accident Compensation Act 1982.
Appeals against ACC review decisions made under the Injury Prevention, Rehabilitation, and Compensation Act 2001 are heard by the Accident Compensation Appeals District Court Registry.
