About the Tribunal

The Immigration Advisors Disciplinary Tribunal was established under the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007.

The Immigration Advisers Complaints and Disciplinary Tribunal was established under the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007.

Members of the Tribunal are appointed by the Governor-General on advice from the Minister of Justice.

The functions of the Tribunal are to:

    • Make decisions on complaints about licensed immigration advisers that are referred to it by the Immigration Advisers Authority
    • Make decisions as to whether sanctions should be imposed on licensed immigration advisers, where a complaint has been upheld
    • Hear appeals against Authority decisions when the Authority has decided to cancel an immigration adviser's licence.
